Patricia Newton Cox, 75, of Victoria, passed away June 23, 2023. Pat was born March 8, 1948 in Lawrence County, Tennessee. She was the second daughter of Albert R. (Jake) and Letha Bryant Newton. She grew up on a small farm in Five Points and attended elementary school there. She graduated from Loretto High School and later from the University of Alabama where she also earned a PhD in accounting. Pat was able to do whatever she decided to do. She was a talented pianist, a seamstress, knitter, cook, and could help you repair a car or build a computer network. While she was never a quilter like her mother, Pat pieced and appliqued beautiful quilt tops. In later years, physical problems prevented her from continuing those activities. Pat loved animals and had a variety of pets over the years. The favorite of these was her dachshund, Duchess. In addition to being a CPA, Pat taught accounting and other business courses at Victoria College in Victoria, Texas. After retiring from teaching, she continued her CPA business from her home. By far, her favorite “job” was being a Mimi to grandson, CJ.
Pat is survived by her spouse, Harvey Wagner; step-son, Chris Wagner (Chrissy); step-daughter, Alecia (Randy); step-grandson CJ Wagner and step-granddaughter, Clara. Two sisters also survive: Hilda Newton French of Victoria, TX and Teresa Newton of Leoma, TN.
A visitation for family and friends will be held Monday, July 3, 2023 from 5-7 PM at Rosewood Funeral Chapels.
