He worked as a tubing inspector at Hardin Tubular for almost 6 years. Randy was a hard worker and was very close with his fellow co-workers. He always had a smile on his face. His passion was watching the Houston Texans football team play. His love for the Texans was passed down from the love of the Houston Oilers. Randy followed the Houston Oilers to Tennessee Titans until the Houston Texans became franchised in 2002. He loved a friendly rivalry with Cowboy fans throughout the season. For many years, disc golf was his passion and he enjoyed getting together with his friends to play a round whether in a tournament or just for fun.
Randy is survived by his sisters, Ermadine Jones of MS, Barbara Smith, Lou Jones, and Betty Smith; brothers, Otis Smith of Houston and John Smith; numerous nieces and nephews; and a few close friends. Randy is preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Aaron Gail Smith; and brothers, Joey, Eddie, and Fred Smith.
A Celebration of Life for Randy will begin with a gathering of family and friends at 5:00 pm on Thursday, July 12, 2018 at Colonial Funeral Home followed by a Memorial Service at 5:30 pm, Rev. Carl Westbrook presiding. The family will continue with fellowship til 8:00 pm.
The family of Randy E. Smith wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the co-workers and owners of Hardin Tubular for all the support and kind words during this difficult time.
