Dear Debbie, Shauna, Chad and Barbara - Words can never express what a truly great man Robert was. He was a shining light in Victoria. It is not easy to be a judge, especially in Victoria where money is the standard by which you are measured. I met Robert in Junior High, so I had many years to watch the evolution of the man. Robert was kind and compassionate as a child, qualities in short supply with most others in our classes. And when he grew up and became, not just a man, but an important man in the community, he was still as kind and compassionate, if not more so! Robert's death is some of the greatest sadness I have felt. Why Robert? He was so good and so honest that the world is just a little darker place without him. In the "old days," when we had bake sales, Robert always bought my pumpkin pies. Sometimes, he would put in a special order. I think it tickled me as much to make them for him as it did for him to eat them. Of course, I completely thought he had extraordinary taste to appreciate my special pie. Even though I am severely diabetic now, I always thought that someday I would get to bake Robert another pie!

Texas has lost a very special man and public servant in the passing of Judge Robert Cheshire.  It was crystal clear, when I first met Robert, that he was a solid rock leader that would set an example for his community, his Jaycee Chapter and the legal profession to always seek higher purpose and standards of conduct for others to emulate.  Being a young lawyer myself in 1983, and being the then President of the Texas Jaycees, it made me proud to know that a man such as Robert Cheshire was part of our Texas team of volunteers as a Victoria Jaycee striving to make our communities and State a better place.  Obviously, Judge Cheshire reached penultimate of those goals in every way.  I am glad we crossed paths.

Judge Robert Cheshire was an exceptional man and truly understood that our youth were our future.  In his participation with the youth involved in the Victoria K
Livestock Show, he supported our 4Hers and FFA youth.  He handled CPS matters with concern and understanding.  He celebrated and made special every adoption before him.  He was a caring person and Judge and I am truly a better attorney for having practiced in his Court.

Debbie and family, I am so sorry to hear about Robert. I never knew the "Judge" but I knew the daddy from 4-H and the kind sweet man from church. Prayers for all.

I was so hoping to be with you, Debbie, Shauna and Chad.  Robert's passing brought back so many memories.  Walter passed away the night he returned from the Houston Stock show.  He went to sleep February 16th during the night and left an emptiness that was felt for a long time.  I understand your loss.  May God bless you now and in the days to come, and I will pray for your families.

We were deeply saddened to hear that Robert had passed away.  He was a fine

My sincerest condolences for the passing of Victoria's best Judge!!  I will never forget his kindness, and ability to remember who you were!  In my opinion he always took his cases to heart and truly cared about their well being.  I will forever be grateful to him for everything he did for me and my son. Many prayers headed yalls way during this difficult time.

My sincerest condolences on the loss of a wonderful person. Robert and I went to high school together and were very competitive in academics. He did not have a mean bone in his body. I enjoyed our conversations and his stories when we caught up at our high school reunions. It is hard to comprehend the enormity of his loss to his family and friends.

I am so sorry to read of Robert's passing. It seems like just yesterday we wee taking piano lessons from Mr. Felger. Robert inspired me with his talent. Everyone who knew him thought he was a great human being. Even though we lost touch long ago, I still remember his intellect, humor, and kindness (and his sister's and parents' as well). 

We will all be reunited with him in years to come. For now, we should all strive to perpetuate his example of faith and works. May the peace of Christ surround his family and provide comfort in the days ahead.
