

Robert Thomas Willis, age 88, passed away December 6, 2017. He was born on January 22, 1929, in Ennis, TX to the late Noble Willis and Bobbie Sims Willis. At age 5, he met a little girl named Joan Wickliffe. They were married on August 1, 1947 and celebrated 70 years of marriage.
Faith, family, friendship, and a hard work ethic defined his life. His Christian faith led him into lay ministry, serving at Churches of Christ in Sheridan, Vanderbilt and Victoria. He was an active mentor with Christians Against Substance Abuse, Jail Ministry and Bible class teaching. Robert and Joan were co-founders of The Victoria Foster Parent Association, and lovingly fostered 50 children in their home. He built a successful plumbing company with his friend and co-worker James “T-Bone” Kitchens. He was co-owner of B and R Cattle Company.
He is survived by his wife, Joan Willis; brother, Randal Willis of Bristol, TX; daughers, Jan Kocian, husband Mike of Victoria, TX, Ann Morgan, husband, Rick of Mesquite, TX, Robbie Meyers of Scurry, TX and son, Thad Willis of Austin, TX. Left to cherish the memory of their beloved “Peeps” are his “grands” and “greats”. Uncle Robert will also be missed by his nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and infant son.
Serving as pallbearers are Mike Kocian, Rick Morgan, grandchildren, Shelli Green, Michelle Bruchmiller, Mike Kocian II, Sara Jackson, Ricki Dickey, Wesley and Jeremy Wilemon. Honoary pallbearers are L.D. Wasicek, Bobby Fudge, Bill Greathouse, Gordon Williams, Jim Green and Larry Deaton.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, December 8, 2017 from 6-8 PM at Rosewood Funeral Chapel. Memorial services are planned for Saturday, December 9th at 10 AM at Rosewood. Graveside services will be Sunday, December 10th at 2 PM at The Bristol Cemetery in Bristol, TX.
