A celebration of life will be held at Rosewood Funeral Chapels at 10 a.m. Friday, May 6, 2011, for Sue Williams, 86, who passed away while surrounded by her loving family and friends. Reverend Dan Fultz will officiate. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
She was born August 22, 1924, in Cleburne, to the late Brach and Lena Timmons Morris. She was also preceded in death by Jimmie Joe Williams, Sr., her devoted husband of 57 years; her youngest son, Johnny Dean Williams, brother, Kenneth Morris and sister, Mary Morris Willis.
She was a devoted wife and mother to her husband and two precious sons. A beautiful homemaker that enjoyed being surrounded by her many friends she had the pleasure of putting smiles on their faces simply with her pure kindness. She welcomed everyone into her home with, “Well come in this house” and immediately began offering you something to eat and drink. Never accepting “no” for an answer, before you knew it you were enjoying a little bottled Coke and some of her famous Tollhouse cookies, cakes and homemade pies.
Always active in her boys schooling and sporting events she never missed a single football game played by her two sons. The strong family connection, involvement and pure enjoyment shared with her boys was carried on and extremely visible in the lives of both of her grandchildren. They both adored her and loved her not only for what she did with them but for the special love and bond they all shared.
An avid golfer and member of the Victoria Ladies Golf Association, she organized and played in numerous golf tournaments in the Victoria area. One of her golfing highlights was making a hole in one before her husband in August, 1976.
She is survived by her loving son Jimmie Joe Williams, Jr. and his wife, Ida, of Victoria; daughter-in-law, Debbie Williams of Canyon Lake; two adoring grandchildren, Kimberly Williams Johnson and husband, Jeff Johnson, of Houston and Travis Dean Williams of Canyon Lake; four admiring great-granddaughters, Emma Johnson, Sarah Johnson, Claire Johnson and Nevaeh Williams all who lovingly referred to her simply as “Grandmother.” She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, May 5, 2011, at Rosewood Funeral Chapels.
Pallbearers will be Allen Lawrence, Brutus Auten, Jeff Johnson and Robby Brewer.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Grace Presbyterian Church or Adopt-a-Pet.
The family would like to extend a sincere heartfelt thank you to Martha Espinoza and her dear family at Angel Arms Manor for the many years of loving care and personal attention given to our mother/grandmother.
“God saw you getting tired and the cure was not to be, so He put His arms around you and whispered, “come with me.” God broke our hearts to prove to us he only takes the BEST.” She may be gone from our lives, but she will forever be in our hearts. Thank you for all of the wonderful memories. We love you!
