I graduated with Sylvia back in the day, and we have both lived in Victoria many years. I never knew my dear friend was so close. I can still see her smile and hear her laughter. Sylvia was my dear, dear friend. We were born in the same hospital (Dow) during the same week. We lived only five houses apart and we kept the path beat down! We went through kindergarten to graduating from Brazosport High School together. Then we were roommates at Stephen F. Austin. We were in Gamma Phi Service Sorority together.I remember that we played a lot of pranks on our "big sisters". One time we "stringed their room, short-sheeted their bed, and put fake creepy-crawlies all around. We had so much fun together...like sneaking backstage at the rodeo to meet Chuck Conners and Johnny Crawford who were big stars from the old western called "The Rifleman".The last time I visited with Sylvia for any length of time was when we spent a few days in the Victoria area. We laughed and cut-up like we were 15 again. We shared old yearbooks and also pictures from when we were bunk-mates at Camp Foster Madley Girl Scout Camp the summer between our third and fourth grade. I remember that we had latrine-duty together.Sylvia even made that chore a fun activity.
Sylvia's wit was magical. She could bring zest to any activity.She could make me laugh until my ribs hurt and tears rolled down my cheeks! Friends of our youth are the most enduring and deeply-loved friends. I miss Sylvia dearly. There will be an empty place in my heart forever.

It was always a joy to see Sylvia from time to time over the years.  I will miss my just-down-the-street neighbor and best Friend of my Sister since the 1950s.
