(Kathy), Williamsburg, VA; three granddaughters, Micah Coffey, Maya Coffey and Hope Coffey; and his big brother, Thaddeus Elmo Coffey, Jr.
Bill was born on May 19, 1926 to Thaddeus Elmo Coffey, Sr. and Ruth Crawford Coffey in Victoria, TX, where he resided for most of his
life. Bill was a member of Crescent Valley Baptist Church in Victoria where he and Nora enjoyed worshiping the Lord, good friends, and
fellowship. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother. Bill was very proud of his family was a caring husband to
Nora, and supportive, loving father to his two sons and their families. He adored his three granddaughters and was a funny and
engaging grandfather.
Bill was a retired operating engineer, having run large cranes and other heavy equipment for H. B. Zachary and many local construction
and gravel companies. In his early career, Bill was a pioneer in the offshore oil industry. He was involved in drilling along the Gulf
Coast from Corpus Christi to New Orleans throughout the 1950's. He was also involved in early efforts to open the vast oil deposits in
Venezuela's Lake Maracaibo region. Throughout his career, he enjoyed exploring and loved building things.
The family would like to extend their thanks and gratitude to the caring staff at Twin Pines as well as the incredible staff at Hospice
of Victoria.
A memorial service is set for Thursday, January 15, 2015, at 2:00 PM at Crescent Valley Baptist Church, Victoria TX, with the Revs. Charles Placker and Allen T. Coffey, officiating.
