William “Ben” McCord, 91 of Inez passed away on Saturday November 24, 2018 surrounded by his family. He was born November 2, 1927 in Yoakum, TX to B. M and Frances Raska McCord. Ben was an operator for 30 years for Trunkline Gas Company-Edna Compressor Station. He served his country during World War II and Korean Conflict in the U.S. Navy and was a lifetime member of the American Legion.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Doris Garvel McCord; daughters, Linda (James) Simmons of Victoria, Diane McCord of Austin; sons, Earl (Nancy) McCord of Port O’Connor, Allan McCord of Belton, Rex (Eileen) McCord of Edna, Dwayne (Dawn) McCord of LaSalle; sisters, Janie Rose Satterfield of Yoakum, Shirley Ann Tumlinson of Lolita; brother, Gene McCord of San Antonio; eleven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Ben was preceded in death by a sister, Benita DeBord.
Visitation will be 6-7 PM on Tuesday, November 27, 2018 at Rosewood Funeral Chapel with a rosary to be recited at 7 PM. The Mass of Christian Burial is 10 AM on Wednesday, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Inez. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery with flag folding under the auspices of the Victoria Veterans Council.
Pallbearers will be Sean McCord, Leyton McGarity, Todd McGarity, Christopher McCord, Lynn McCord and David Kabela.
