Edwin Harold Loescher

Edwin (Ed) Harold Loescher, 91, of Victorville, CA, passed away peacefully at his home

on November 26, 2023, surrounded by family.

Funeral services will be held Monday, December 11, 2023, beginning at 11:00 am at

Desert View Funeral Home, 11478 Amargosa Road, Victorville, CA. Visitation will be prior to the

start of the funeral beginning at 9:30 am until 11:00 am. Graveside services will follow beginning

at 12:00 pm at Desert View Memorial Park.

Ed was born on March 10, 1932, to Harold L. Loescher and Sabina M. (Eiden) Loescher

in Lorain, OH. Ed grew up in North Ridgeville, OH and graduated from North Ridgeville High

School. He served in the United States Air Force from July 22, 1949 until he was honorably

discharged on January 10, 1953. Ed was a proud Korean War Veteran.

Ed married Shirley A. Whitacre on April 12, 1952, in Elyria, OH. They lived in Elyria until

1956 when they moved to Rapid City, SD where Ed went to work for the Rapid City Journal. In

1960 they moved to Upland, CA where Ed went to work for The Daily Report in Ontario, CA until

he took a position with the Progress Bulletin in Pomona, CA. He worked at various newspapers

after he left the Progress Bulletin in 1978 until his retirement in 2010.

Ed enjoyed golf, projects around the house, fishing, camping and watching NASCAR on

tv.

Ed is survived by his wife of 71 years Shirley, his daughters Debra (Karlye) Kalkowski of

Grand Island, NE, and Jody (Russell) Hall of Victorville. His sons Michael (Lynne) Loescher of

Twain, CA; David (Sheila Wilson) Loescher of Callao, VA; Terry (Barbara) Loescher of Hesperia;

and Kevin (Truely) Loescher of Boise, ID. 6 granddaughters Julie (Jeff) Gerlach of Mabank, TX;

Jennifer (David) Forsberg of Granite Springs, NY; Kelsea Loescher of Carlsbad; Heather

(Bernard) Molina of Victorville; Kristine (Pheng) Uy of Hesperia, and Sierra Loescher of Boise,

ID. 7 grandsons Steven Loescher of Twain, CA; Kash (Jamie) Kalkowski of Grand Island, NE;

Corey Loescher of Crestline; Allen (Cleo) Loescher of Hesperia; Josh (Jess) stationed in Tokyo,

Japan; Jeremy Loescher of Sacramento, and Bodie Loescher of Boise, ID. 18

great-grandchildren; sisters Edith (Bob) Schaffer and Norma Uehlin, and brother-in-law Gary

(Diane) Whitacre.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents; his in-laws Earl and Mildred Whitacre; brother

Donald Loescher, sisters Karen Gulliksen and Sally Burgett, and his son Eddie Loescher.
