

Fred was the fourth child born to Henry and Maxine (Short) Hudgens on August 23, 1944. He was the last surviving sibling to sisters, Jo Sue, Joyce, and Dixie.
A proud lifelong resident of Victorville, Fred attended Victor Elementary School District, Victor Valley Jr High and Victor Valley Senior High School. Fred made his mark early as a standout football star at Victor Valley High School, graduating with the class of 1962. His love for VVHS Jackrabbits never wavered, and he carried that pride with him throughout his life.
Fred shared an enduring love story with his high school sweetheart, DeAnn Golden Hudgens. Together, they built a remarkable 62-year marriage filled with devotion, partnership, and countless cherished memories.
Fred was deeply devoted to his family, pouring his love into Toni, Jamie, Jerri, Ryan, Sean, James, Kyle, Luke, Jacob, Bryce, Ava, Wyatt, Marybelle, Bowen, Arrow, Peyton, and Baby Hudgens. His family was the center of his world, and he took immense joy and pride in watching it grow across generations.
Fred was known for his strong work ethic and dedication throughout his career. Following in his Father's footsteps, he was employed by Southwest Portland Cement (Cemex) from 1963 to 1994 and TXI Riverside Cement (Cal Portland) from 1994 to 2011. Fred he earned the respect of his peers as a skilled and dependable employee and boss. He took pride in his work and was a mentor to many, always willing to share his knowledge and lend a helping hand.
Fred’s legacy lives on through the countless lives he touched on the field; by coaching Little League, Jr All-American football, and girls' softball, he didn’t just teach the game—he shaped the character of his players, instilling a sense of confidence and community that they carry with them to this day.
Fred will be remembered for his steady presence, his commitment to those he loved, and the deep roots he planted in the Victorville community. His legacy lives on through the many lives he touched and the family he so dearly loved.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered
