Born in 1947 in Los Angeles, John's life was marked by service, passion and dedication. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps before pursuing his love for teaching physical education at Cal Poly Pomona, Ca. After earning his degree, John went on to make a lasting impact as a professor of Health and Fitness Sciences at Victor Valley Community College, where he also served as the Men's Athletic Director, a coach for various sports teams, including women's softball, coed track and field, men's basketball and baseball.
John's influence extended beyond the classroom and playing field, shaping the lives of countless students and athletes over the years.
After retiring from teaching and coaching John stayed active by walking. That became a real passion of his. He kept a daily log of his steps and was very competitive against himself. He was preceded in death by his father, Arthur Paine and mother, Evelyn Margaret Spence, and his daughter, Natalie Paine. He is survived by his devoted wife, Leilani Paine, his son, Michael Paine, his daughter Savanna Gillen, his six grandchildren, his brother Jim and his wife Cathy, his sister carol and her husband Greg and his extended family and friends who will forever cherish his memory.
