The moment that you left me, my heart split in two. One side filled with memories, the other side died with you. I often lay awake at night when the world is fast asleep, and take a walk down memory lane with tears upon my cheek. Remembering you is easy, I do it everyday, but missing you is a heartache that never goes away. I hold you tightly within my heart and there you will remain. You see life has gone on without you, but will never be the same.

What a wonderful grandson I had. I love that you were very strong all your life. I will always have memories of Justin my whole life. We had this connection of him calling me Wally. It started with me calling my son in law Steve a Wally. Steve would in turn call me Wally. Then Justin would hear and say that I was the Wally. From that point on when Justin would see me he would say, "Hi Wally!" His eyes would light up and he would have a big smile on his face. Justin was a very loving grandson. You will always be in my heart and my mind, Wally. 

Justin, Uncle loves you so much.
I know you know this but I have always been so proud of you and have learned so much from your strength. These words I write are what I hoped to never have to do and Uncle wishes there was something I could do to fix things, but in my heart I know that you are now free and will never suffer or be bound to a chair anymore. While the selfish side of me wants you here with us forever I know that you can now run and jump and dance and play baseball and laugh as loud as you want.

Justin, my heart aches to see you again, but I am so grateful for all the amazing times we have shared together.  My mind whirls from seeing you grow so fast from a little boy to a  young man. And even though I seemed to always have lived far, you were and always are close to my heart. I am so happy that we had the chance to hang out this Christmas and tell you about the volcanoes in Hawaii (that you thought were cool) and spending the day together at Olvera St. where you rode your first train at Union Station and we took pictures with a goofy stuffed donkey while wearing sombreros.

I've always done my best to make you happy and laugh and I know you loved it  when I would fake trip (or trip for real) in front of you. Your laughter and beautiful smile always filled me with joy and when I miss you I will think of your big smile and happy eyes when we facedtimed that last time you were in the hospital.

Since you have been away I have been here with Mama, Grandma, Sizzle, Val Val, Fernie, Isaiah, Joshie, Sierra, Danielle, Anina, Arya, Grandpa, Uncle Eddie, Uncle Steve, Uncle Dan, Aunty Marty and fake Scrappy. We all miss you so much but we know that we will be together again.
Mama gave me one of your Birdhouses and I am going to hang it on my Christmas tree every year.

Justin my heart is broken but also happy for you because you are now free. Uncle misses and loves you so much.

Oh and..... " Now What Foo?"

Well kiddo this is your DAD, as I lay in bed listening to the wind whistling,  I can't help but to think if it's you trying to get my attention.  I'm heart is tearing all apart day to day and I find it difficult to even start my day. I think about all the songs you would sing and pour your heart into. The long trips to  go pick up your sisters. I've enjoyed seeing your big cheesy smile and when you'd want something there you were blowing kisses. 
I remember going to the kings games how excited you'd get when the players would come out onto the ice.
Most of all I  will always remember how happy you were when you landed on the Yankees one season on your challenger division.  You couldn't wait till I got home because the Yankees are my favourite baseball team. Going to the Angels game everytime the Yankees were in town and even when the Dodgers played the Yankees. 
I just want to say thank you for coming into my life and letting me be apart of yours. Your everything a father wants and more. I'm going to miss you kiddo.

I will always have Justin in my heart. I miss him so much because everywhere I go, I see him. He was always so happy when I would bring him his Oreo cookies and chocolate donuts. I know that he is in no more pain. That he is with the Lord now and I know that I will see him again. And he will have that big smile when I see him. 

I have so many great memories with Justin. I am going to miss my big brother he always brought a smile were ever he went I wake up everyday and go to his room to say good morning. I will always remember the times that we listened to his music and we danced all night long. I will remember the times that we would  fight he kicked my butt every time. He was the champion and he still will be no matter what.
 We always called him superman or Clark Kent and Mr. Edison because he will tell us to turn off the lights or close the fridge. I will remember every Dodger and Kings game we watched we went crazy when our team scored. He loves power rangers so much! He had so many power rangers we had to buy a shelf for them and every time we went to the store he wanted to buy more power rangers even if he was going to buy the same one.  I will remember every baseball game that you were there cheering me on telling me to whack the cover off the ball I will never forget that. I love you Justin from the bottom of my heart and soul.  Brothers till the end of time

To my Googz, Well where do I even begin? We cherished so many memories together and not one of them were bad.  From all the times I snuck you donuts when mama went to the bathroom or even when I’d  get the can of whipped cream and spray it in your mouth. One thing I will always remember is that no matter where I had a baseball game you forced mama to park somewhere that you were able to see, whether it was driving through the middle of the school to park next to the field, parking in the outfield, or even having Mama drive up the hill at Serrano and seeing you parked up on the hill in center field.  I’m gonna miss seeing my number one supporter at my games, hearing you chant “Let’s go liddo Brodder” before I would go up to the plate.  Mornings were the best because no matter what mood I woke up in, I would walk into your room and see your big smile on your face and following that smile was your famous saying “Waass up foo”  and just like that my mood would change. I love you JJ and we all miss you so so much.

There were a couple of times when Justin gets sick and his Uncle Michael was a wreck.  Justin is very near and dear to his uncle. We all know that in Hawaii.

Margie, I have been thinking of you since I learned the news of your sweet son. When I became a mother, I was scared and I felt lost and wondered why I didn’t get the manual for parenting among the myriad gifts we received! Soon, though, I realized that just by observing the mothers among me—my sisters and friends—I had just the role models to look to. Through the years, as I’ve become the mother I am, I have taken little bits and pieces of wisdom and advice from these role models and I’m a better woman and mother for it. Motherhood is the sisterhood that I love being a part of. I see in you, as I see in other mothers that I admire and try to model myself after, a woman of strength, fortitude, undying love and devotion. The safety and love you enveloped your son in was his reason for being so alive and happy. Children feed off the love we give them and they become the words we use about and for them. Justin thrived because your love (and that of all of your family) fueled and propelled him. Providing not only love, shelter and family, but exposing him to the world, experiences, friendships…all of that created a full life. I pray for your comfort, Margie. I pray that the beautiful memories depicted in all these images I’ve seen, bring you peace that you gave him the best life and that he knew and felt that his mother loved him. Oh Margie, The tears haven’t stopped flowing all day! My heart is aching for you & your family! After speaking with you this morning my head was flooded with so many visions of Justin & you over the past nearly 25 years seeing Justin & knowing what a beautiful life you, your mama, & your family allowed Justin to live! He was so happy through it all! He was so courageous and fought so hard to stay here with you & God needed him now! I’ll never understand why now! I’m lying here next to Corey Capece comforting him after telling him about his friend...his buddy Justin! He loved Justin so much & the excitement when he knew we would see each other was huge. Seeing our boys together & getting to hug you & know we understood each other & this journey, the constant fears of the unknown & the greatest gift we could have ever been blessed with could be taken away @ any moment! When we got home last night the boys and I watched angels in the outfield and I told them about our summers and showed them pictures of their uncles they have in California. I told the boys of all the times we played cops and robbers, watching making the band, going to the baseball field, sneaking you a chocolate doughnut, Fernie telling fart knockers, selling plums with auntie Val, and our endless games of uno. More than anything I wish I would have listened to that voice in my head telling me to call when I didn’t get a response back last night instead of doing the dishes. I should have been around more for you and our brothers, I’m so sorry I wasn’t. I’ll work on that. You’ve brought a lot of people happiness and I know that despite limitations, you had a great life. I’m grateful that you can finally rest. I promise to add this song to my playlist and to trade in my Avs jersey for an LA Kings. I’m going to miss the “Justin wants to know“ and “Justin said” texts and when the Rockies lose having you call me a sucka! You were larger than life and I’m thankful I was able to have a part of it. Anina loves Justin so much. She always loved helping Auntie Marge give Justin his medicine. At the funeral yesterday, Anina wanted Justin to wake up. In time she will fully understand that Justin is in heaven.  ❤️

   Today is the day we put you down to rest. I never ever wanted this day to come. The Lord had different plans for you. He knew it was time to get you up and out of your wheelchair. He knew it was time to free you from whatever pain you were in and he knew it was time to hear your beautiful voice again without that trach. There are so many wonderful memories that we as a family have with you that it's hard to just name one. You will always be my special boy, my duckie, my pookie bear! Everyone had their own special name for you and you loved each and every one of them. Although my heart is broken and I feel emptiness in my heart it gives me comfort to know that we will see eachother again. I love you my baby boy! Run like the wind Bullseye!!  Love you, Your mama!

JJ, to write this is to say goodbye and I’ve waited till the last moment because I don’t want to say it.  This photo was the last one we took together. It says a lot because our thing was for me to give you a dollar every time I seen you. Even when it was all I had I would pass it on to you. I’m going to miss lighting your face up with photos of beautiful girls in bikinis when no one was looking. I’m going to miss when you would call me names for teasing you.  I’m going to miss when you were smaller and we would wrestle. You always had a special place in my heart. I was always so mad inside to see how you were so limited with life. But now your free JJ. No more stinkin wheelchair! No more hospital visits! No more Trachea! Your free JJ, run and don’t stop running. I hope to see you again my boy. I will always Love you Sucka! ❤️

  This is my boy! He will always be my boy. I will anxiously be waiting for the day that I will see him again.  I thank the Lord for the hope that he has given us that we will be joined again with our loved ones in heaven. I can hardly wait. I just want to finally see him out of that wheelchair. I want to run hand in hand with him.
  Marge and I did everything together with him. I'm going to miss that. 
  In the mornings I would be in the kitchen and he would either call me to his room or yell out "Grandma, what are you doing?" I would yell back "Nothing" and then make more noise to annoy him. It was a morning ritual for him. He always had to know what I was doing.  Love you my boy!!

I was thinking off you extra this morning JJ. I was playing with Arya and was nibbling on her finger. It reminded me of the time I was messing with you in the back of the van. I kept daring you to bite my finger. I underestimate your speed and you latched on and got my finger and didn't let go. I was so mad at you JJ. Little punk!  I miss you little busta!


I was thinking about JJ today and I couldn't help but smile. I found myself singing the backstreet boys out loud just like my Justin would while I thinking about him. Everytime Justin sang it brought everyone in the room to a much happier place.  I remember Justin would always just like to chill out in his chair with his Ipod on listening to his tunes. I can't wait for the day when I get to hear his beautiful voice sing again!

Hmmmmmmm how do I even begin with just one memory. I'll just leave one a day from now on. I remember when Justin was little i would love to go with my mom to get him at the bus stop when he got dropped off from school. Seeing him come down the lift from the bus, talking to him, asking him how his day was;  that was the best. Walking home with my little brother just having small talk is something Ill cherish forever.  I still remember at that age he still had his silver teeth! I love you J.J!

One of my favorite memories with Justin is when he played baseball.  He loved it so much! It made him feel just like his big brother.  He loved it when I would take him out of his chair, run the bases and slide into home! I think his best game was when I was holding him out at short stop and a ball was coming our direction. Without thinking we dove for the ball and everyone cheered! That was a great day!

Justin, you are such a special young man. Who else could've brought an entire family to live near each other, only you!...You are so loved!...I remember every once in a while when I would be on the phone with Nat & you knew she was talking to me, you would say "wassup foo" & I would say it back to you. I'm grateful for those little moments that you allowed me to have with you. From the time that you were little, you were always such a character. Your absence is very difficult for everyone who loves you but I know right now you are in your Eternal Reward. At this moment, you are no longer bound to that chair. You are in the presence of the Lord! You are free to run, free to dance, free to do all the things that you were unable to do in this life! What an awesome reward for such an awesome young man! You will be deeply missed but never forgotten...

Love you handsome we will all miss you very much especially your beautiful smile that brightened everyone's day it wont be the same without you.  I am so honored to have known such a special person that was so loved by many & touched many hearts.  Rest in peace mijo & dont worry we will all take care of your mama we know she is the greatest & how she meant so much to you.  I know your going to flirt with all the pretty ladies up there so go get em player!  Go Dodgers!

Justin, When I met you, You were just 3 years old, When your brother Fernie and my son Arthur played T- Ball together. Then the next few years the played baseball together, along with Art being coach of there team. I can see your face with your big smile when I was pregnant with Arianna. When Arianna was born and the first time you seen her you had even a bigger smile. Ever time you would see Arianna, the joy and happiness you showed was amazing. Then your mom started to babysit Arianna, I can remember ever morning when I would drop her off the smile you had when we would walk in I will never for get. You had so much love for Arianna wanted her to be your girlfriend. I can remember picking her up seeing Arianna and you watching video of the Back Street Boys. Justin my family and I are grateful to have you has part of our lives, you had such great spirit for life that we will never for get. Now you are in the heavens looking down upon us dancing and singing the songs to Back Street Boys. Arianna will be for ever your girlfriend.  R.I.P. Justin

I will always remember the fun times we had sneaking you snacks when your Mama wasn’t looking.  Especially those yummy churros from Disneyland and those extra sips of your frappuccinos. All you had to do was give me the look or smack your lips. You were such an amazing young man and I miss you so so much. You are now healed, walking and singing in heaven to the Lord. I will always remember the first time I met him at Natalie’s families house in 1996.  Justin didn’t like me that much until I was walking in the hallway and tripped over a chair and fell to the ground, He cracked up laughing and ever since then he liked me!
When we would visit, Margie would say, hey Dan Justin said if you want one of his snacks you can go ahead and get one. 
I will forever miss Justin. 😔
