OBITUARY

Lucy Grace Ginorio

13 June, 1936 – 20 December, 2024
IN THE CARE OF

Desert View Funeral Home & Memorial Park

Lucy Grace Gorman Ginorio, known as Ms. G. to her students and Yaya to her grandchildren, passed away December 20, 2024 at the age of 88. Her laugh would fill a room, and she never went anywhere without making a friend. It’s impossible to define her in a few words but kind, funny, opinionated, feisty, and brave come to mind.

Lucy loved learning and obtained several degrees, double majoring in history and education, and eventually obtaining a masters in counseling. She was an educator for close to sixty years of her life— a history teacher in NYC, a counselor in Santa Ana, Ca., and eventually a pre-school director in Orange, Ca. In her eighties, she surprised us all by publishing her first book.

Lucy is survived by her loving daughter, Jennifer Escobedo and her daughter’s husband, Jose Escobedo; as well as her devoted son Rafael Ginorio and his wife Veronica Ginorio. She is survived by her grandchildren, Isaiah Ginorio and his wife Amanda Ginorio, Keara Escobedo, Sage Ginorio, Devin Escobedo, Silas Ginorio, Uriah Ginorio, Elias Ginorio, Zarra Ginorio, and her great-grandson Solomon Ginorio.

Lucy couldn’t have loved her family more. After high school, she devoted herself to the church and was a nun until her thirtieth birthday. Her connection to God never waned, but her desire to have a family took precedence. Having children, grandchildren, and a great-grandchild was the greatest surprise, and joy, of her life. Her love of adventure took her to the California coast where she was a positive and driving force for countless students.

She changed lives.

The world is a little less bright without her.
