February 10, 1936 – April 16, 2025
Norma Sue Cheever, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on April 16, 2025, in Apple Valley, California, at the age of 89.
Born on February 10, 1936, in Kansas to Ramy and Berniece Grisham, Norma spent her early years in the heartland before her family relocated to Lawndale, California.
Norma married her first husband Lauren Gerber in 1950 and they had four children together, Terry, Scott, Stephen and Jeffrey.
Norma’s life changed forever when she met Norman Cheever. That chance meeting blossomed into a lifelong love. Together, they joined two families into one—Norma with her four boys and Norman with four as well, Alan, Robert, Larry and Mark. They built a home filled with laughter, strength and unwavering support for one another. Their bond endured through the years until Norman’s passing on May 8, 2007. Now, they are reunited at last, their love story continuing beyond this life.
Norma dedicated 26 years of her professional life as a Lab Technician, bringing precision and care to her work. But her true joy came from her family. Nothing lit up her heart more than gathering everyone together—especially for her famous Taco Nights. She would happily prepare over 100 tacos, ensuring every child, grandchild, and guest left full and loved. It wasn’t just about the food—it was about creating memories, laughter, and connection.
Norma and Norm loved spending time at their vacation home on the Colorado River in Parker Arizona. The family came together there often to go boating, waterskiing, play games and just enjoy each other’s company. We made so many great memories there over the many years.
In 2003, Norma made Apple Valley her home, where she enjoyed her later years surrounded by the desert’s quiet beauty and the warmth of family visits. Her strength, kindness, and joyful spirit will be missed deeply by all who knew her.
A private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date, where family and friends will come together to honor the beautiful life Norma lived and the love she so generously gave.
She leaves behind a large and grateful family who will forever cherish the legacy she built—one taco, one hug, and one memory at a time.
