Norma Jean Hawley: 12/25/35 - 6/11/25
Norma Jean Hawley, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, daughter, and aunt, passed peacefully into the arms of her Heavenly Father on June 11, 2025.
She was born on December 25, 1935, in Okmulgee Oklahoma, to Eugenia and Eugene Crunk. Exactly fi ve years later, her sister Carolyn (deceased) was born. Norma was raised in Compton, California, where she met and married her high school sweetheart, and love of her life John E. Hawley, in 1954. They were married for 71 years.
Norma and John lovingly raised four children: Gina, Geno (Julie), Denise, and Douglas (Sonia), who gave them ten amazing grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren. Their family grew in love and number, even through heartbreak. Norma lost her son Dale, Denise’s twin at six weeks old, in 1961. She later endured the loss of her daughter Denise in 2017. In 2019, Norma was diagnosed with dementia, a difficult season that slowly took her words and memories, but never her spirit.
Through it all, Norma held tightly to her faith and her family. She especially loved visiting her grandchildren in Oregon and treasured long rides to the beach. Those moments brought her peace and joy even when travel became difficult.
She was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed by her husband, family, and everyone who had the honor of knowing her.
