

Rosie Hernandez Camarena, 85, of Victorville, California passed away on March 1st, 2023.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Refugio Fuentes Moreno and Esther Hernandez Moreno, her brothers and sister, Juan Hernandez Flores, Regina Hernandez Raygoza, Galdino Hernandez Flores, Lucio Hernandez Flores, Pete Hernandez Moreno and Elpidio “Ricky” Hernandez Moreno, Anthony “Tony” Moreno. Rosie was born on May 2, 1937 to Refugio Fuentes Moreno and Esther Hernandez Moreno in Corona. She attended Guasti Elementary School and Corona High School.
Rosie married Jesse R. Camarena in 1957 and from the marriage, three sons and one daughter were born. Jesse Michael Camarena, Johnny A. Camarena, Yvonne “Moreno” Camarena and Eric D. Camarena.
Rosie was very instrumental in her children’s lives. She went to all of their sporting events and cheered for her children. She attended wrestling matches and found it hard to watch but still supported them. She assisted in creating The Latin Express Family Band. She made sure the musicians were fed before each band practices. She loved watching her children perform at concerts, and she could be heard cheering, dancing and screaming in the distance.
Rosie worked at the Nu-Way Laundry for a number of years. She also worked as a housekeeper in the High Desert. She loved working for notable employers who lived around the Apple Valley Country Golf Club. Rosie was also a waitress at El Patio Restaurant on 7th Street, where she served some actors such as James Gardner and Broderick Crawford. Rosie also worked home health where she took care of clients and eventually would have one client Ruth move in with her and her family. Rosie had a big heart who loved helping people, everyone who knew Rosie loved and adored her. She was a monarch of her family.
Rosie, was very proud of growing up in Corona and Guasti. She traveled with her father and siblings up north to pick seasonal vegetables and fruits. Rosie was known for her kindness. She feed the homeless and could cook a hot meal in no time at all. Her food was very delicious and her homemade tortillas would melt in your mouth. She would reminisce, how much she loved running in the dirt fields and playing softball at the Guasti encampment with her friends.
She was extremely proud to be an American. Her brothers represented our country during wartime. She was extremely proud of her son Eric Camarena serving in the Army and her grandson Dimmone Camarena and Great Grandson Edward Olvera serving proudly in the Army also. She took pride of her Mexican, Native American, and Jewish Heritages.
Rosie loved watching the Los Angeles Dodger’s, Las Vegas Raider’s, Los Angeles Laker’s, Victor Valley High School Jackrabbits, where her children graduated and were athletics. Her all time favorite player was Kobe Bryant.
Rosie is survived by her loving husband of nearly 66 Years of Marriage; Jesse R. Camarena, her children; Jesse Michael Camarena (Angelika) of Hesperia, Johnny A. Camarena (Margie) of Hesperia, Yvonne “Moreno” Camarena of Victorville, and Eric D. Camarena of San Antonio, Texas. Anthony Brown of Victorville, three sister-in-laws: Amparo Camarena of Colton, Ca. Mary Moreno and Gloria “Chita” Moreno, both of Victorville. Her 15 Grandchildren, 26 Great Grandchildren and her second born Great Great Grandchild Rose Olvera.
The family would like to recognize Green Valley Hospice Care and their Staff, they answered our phone call, when the others turned down their services. Special thanks to her nurse Christy, for always answering our phone calls, Rosie adored and loved you. Thank you Aurora for bathing our mother, she loved the conversations with you. Special Thanks to all the Care Givers who took care of our mother, you know who you are. Thank You so much, Jesse Sr.
Family would like to thank the Assembly of God Church of Victorville, for allowing and providing their church for our mother’s service. Rosie Celebration of Life will be on April 22nd, 2023 @ 11:00 a.m. Pastor Esteban Vargas of Redemption Church will be conducting the service. Luncheon will be provided for Immediate Family only, location to be determined,
Burial to be conducted at Desert View Memorial Park on May 5th, 2023 at 11:00 am for family and close friends.
