

Sandra Elaine Caldwell was born on May 5, 1947, in Macon, Georgia, to Tommy Lee Edwards Sr. and Daisy Ruth Ribbron. The eldest of three children, she shared her childhood with her beloved brothers Tommy Lee Edwards Jr. and Quinson Larry Edwards. Sandra’s early years were filled with family, laughter, and the joy of southern gatherings surrounded by cousins, aunts, and uncles. She often shared stories of those cherished days.
A gifted and determined young woman, Sandra graduated at just sixteen years old from Ballard Hudson High School at the top of her class. She was a proud debutante and crowned Miss Ballard Hudson before graduating in 1963 — honors that reflected her beauty, grace, and intellect. After high school, Sandra and her family moved to California, where she continued her education at Los Angeles Trade Technical College, setting the foundation for a lifetime of learning and leadership.
While attending Los Angeles Trade Technical College, Sandra met the love of her life Ernest James Caldwell and later married. Their bond grew and together, they raised four beautiful children: Tammi Michelle Caldwell, Timothy Ernest Caldwell, Torrey James Caldwell, and her “favorite,” Tiara Ruth Kristina Caldwell. Although Sandra and Ernest later divorced, they remained connected through their shared love and commitment to their children.
Sandra began her career as a switchboard operator at Western Union before joining the Pomona Valley Unified School District, where she worked faithfully for many years. Sandra found her greatest joy in being a full-time mother and homemaker. Her home became the heart of the family — a place filled with love, warmth, and the irresistible aroma of her delicious cooking. Holidays and special occasions were her time to shine, creating memories that will live on for generations.
Sandra was predeceased by her parents, Tommy Lee Edwards Sr, Mother, Daisy Ruth Edwards; Brother, Tommy Lee Edwards Jr. Sandra is survived by her brother, Quinson Larry Edwards; children, Tammi (Jonathan Horn) Caldwell-Horn, Timothy (Samona) Caldwell, Torrey (Desiree) Caldwell, Tiara Caldwell; grandchildren, Christopher, Kyle, Michael and Michelle Greene, Xavier Caldwell, Elijah, Matthew, London Caldwell, Ian & Ivy Pleas, Ryan, Journey and Marley Caldwell; great grandson, Bruce Greene. and a host of cousins, extended family, and dear friends.
Sandra passed away peacefully on May 3, 2026, surrounded by love, with her youngest son Torrey by her side. She was a devoted mother, cherished family member, and a dear friend to many whose presence brought warmth and strength to all who knew her.
Sandra will be remembered for her unwavering love for her family, her caring spirit, and wisdom and strength. Her words of encouragement, sense of humor, and nurturing spirit inspired those around her. She had a witty saying for every situation. She had a generous heart, a resilient nature, and a quiet strength that carried her through life’s challenges.
She also showed extraordinary devotion as a caregiver to her mother, whom she cared for with unwavering love until her mother’s passing in 2019. Though her earthly journey has ended, her love and spirit will continue to light and guide us, her warmth will forever live in our hearts.
