
Vernon G. Arnold 1918-2017 Vernon Arnold passed away peacefully on January 11, 2017 at the age of 98. He was the first of four children born to Clyde and May Arnold on September 27, 1918. He had three siblings Vetress, Virgil and his "baby sis" Violet, the only sibling to survive his death. He was stationed in England during World War II were he met Doris Christopher, an English citizen. He served in the United States Air Force for 27 years. They had two children Howard Arnold and Christine Settle both born in England on separate tours of duty. He served tours of duty in New Mexico, Texas and California before retiring. He then was employed by the California Department of Corrections in food service. He returned to college and achieved a credential in culinary arts which he used to teach inmates incarcerated for drug use to prepare them for employment upon their release. They had two grandchildren, Shannon Esparza and Robert Arnold who brought such joy to their lives. His wife, Doris Arnold passed away in 1990. The last five years of her life she was confined to a wheel chair and he provided devoted, loving and compassionate care for her until her death. He remained very active, independent and healthy during the final years of his life, taking cruises, ball room dancing, as well as attending the Chino Senior Center and the Chino Methodist Church. Vernon was a wonderful, loving husband, a devoted father, grandfather and great grandfather. His family was always his priority and his greatest joy. He is survived by his son and his wife, Howard and Linda Arnold, his daughter and her husband Christine and Phil Settle, his grandson and his wife Robert and Lelaina Arnold and their children Andrew and Audrey , his grandaughter Shanon Esparza and her children Trevor and Makenna, his sister Violet Ford of Idaho, his good friend Laura Swick and his nieces and nephews Virginia Brown, June Hutson, Charlotte Merritt, Robert Ford, Sue Hewett and Roger Arnold. A donation to your favorite Veterans charity in his memory is suggested in lieu of flowers.
