

He was born on May 27, 1940, in Honolulu, Hawaii to his beloved parents, Yves and Rhea Dupre’. He was a U.S. Navy veteran. Donald resided in Sulphur for the past 3 years and was a long time resident of Vinton. He was a member of the Vinton Lions Club, American Legion Post #208, VFW Post #9854, the Knights of Columbus, and St. Joseph Catholic Church. He enjoyed fishing and shrimping.
Survivors include his wife of 32 years, Penny Dupre’; two sisters, Judy Gibson and Yvette Muller; six children, Marsha Dupre’, Susan Trahan, Donald Dupre’, Jr., Beverly Matt, Holly Maurer, and Karrie Dupre’; sixteen grandchildren, Courtney Ziegler, Shannon Merchant, Donald Brian Dupre’, III, Colby Dupre’, Shawna Kile, Malllory Matt, Mavrick Dupre’, Brock Dupre’, Morgan Matt, Zachary Maurer, Sydney Maurer, Sean Matt, Paige Maurer, Brett Dupre’, Cody Maurer, and Jube Maurer; and four great-grandchildren, Destiny, Kaylee, Trinity, and Abby.
His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, November 17, 2011, in St. Joseph Catholic Church. The Rev. Susil Fernando will officiate. Burial will be in Mimosa Pines Cemetery South in Carlyss under the direction of Hixson Funeral Home of Vinton. Visitation is from 4-9 p.m. today with a rosary service at 6 p.m. and will continue from 8 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home.
