

Etheleen Marie Flores, 91, died Thursday, May 25, at her home in Vinton, LA. “Tillie” was born July 4, 1925 in Churchpoint, LA to Arville and Rose Richard. She was a loving sister, wife, Mother, Grandmother, and a devout Catholic. Tillie was a resident of Vinton for the last 36 years. She worked for 8 years at LA DOTD. Tillie will be remembered for her kind heart, gardening, and generous giving ways.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her two sons, Gary Broomes and wife Theresa of San Antonio, Billy Broomes of Port Barre; one daughter, Marie “Randy” Broomes of Vinton; five step-children, Roger Flores and Brenda, Kenneth Brunet of Lake Charles, Emmett Brunet of Columbus, OH, David Brunet and wife Rowena, along with Regina Trahan and husband Adam. She also leaves behind two sisters, Geraldine Brown and Flo Carbo, along with numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and one great great granddaughter.
She is preceded in death by her first husband, James J. Broomes and late husband Rogerio Flores; brothers, Noah, Joe, Shorty, Hilman, and Frank Richard; along with sisters, Lelia Thibodeaux, Irene Broussard, and grandson, Shane Broomes.
A Mass will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Vinton, LA. on Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at 10:00am. Visitation will be held at Hixson Funeral Home of Vinton on Monday, May 29, 2017 from 5:00-8:00pm with a Rosary at 6:00pm. Visitation will resume on Tuesday from 9:00am until till the procession to the church. Burial will follow at Niblett Bluff Cemetery in Vinton.
