James "J.L." Lemar Vincent, 87, of Vinton, Louisiana passed away on Saturday, January 31, 2026. He was born to his late parents, Joseph and Lula Mae Vincent on May 9, 1938 in Vinton, Louisiana. He served in the United States Army from 1957-1959. J.L. was a Barber for 60 years and owner/operator of City Barber Shop. He also worked for Delta Downs Racetrack Casino and Hotel upon it's opening in 1973 until he retired in 2020 as a Casino Host. J.L. was the town of Vinton historian and was a true jokester. He never met a stranger and everyone loved him.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Peggy Vincent; six children, Michael Vincent (Deborah) of Orange, Texas, Rachelle Vincent Smith of Vinton, Louisiana, Regina Morris (Troy) of Baytown, Texas, Lemar Vincent (Jacinda) of Moss Bluff, Louisiana, Leslie "Sherr" Dunham (Joseph) of Buna, Texas, Shontel Pappillion (Chris) of Iowa, Louisiana; one sister, Carolyn Whitaker (Carroll) of Lumberton, Texas; sixteen grandchildren, Angela Howell, Jennifer Taylor, Dillon Wyant, Emerson Wyant, Preston Wyant, Trisha Vienneau, Gary Vincent, Lauren Powell, Lindsay Turner, Cameron Vincent, Alexis Blanchard, Katelin Nostrano, Randall Domingue, Josie Grubbs, Bella Dunham, and Joseph Dunham; twenty six great grandchildren; along with two great-great grandchildren.
J.L. is preceded in death by his parents; along with two brothers, Kenneth and Rickey Vincent.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Vinton, Louisiana on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at 11:00 am, with Father Carlos Garcia officiating. Visitation will be at Hixson Funeral Home in Vinton, Louisiana on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm, with a Rosary at 6:00 pm. Visitation will resume at the funeral home on Wednesday, from 9:00 am until the procession to the church. Burial will be at Resthaven Cemetery in Oakdale, Louisiana at a later date.
