He was a native of Orange, Texas and had been a longtime resident of the Houston-Spring, Texas area. Joe was a truck driver for various companies including Morgan Trucking Company and others. He was a U.S. Army veteran. He enjoyed watching the Dallas Cowboys and Houston Astros, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Bravo Rodriguez of Spring, Texas; his father, Joseph Baptiste Bertrand, Sr. of Orange Beach, Alabama; his children, Joseph Baptiste Bertrand, III of Beaumont, Texas, Michael Anthony Bertrand and wife, Rachel of Fort Riley, Kansas, Nicolas Ryan Bertrand and wife, Amanda of Beaumont, Texas and Natashia Marie Bertrand Clark and husband, Shane of Nederland, Texas; his siblings, Charles Bertrand of Houma, Scott Bertrand of McKinney, Texas, James Bertrand of Orange Beach, Alabama, Denise Pauletti of Mesquite, Texas, Patricia Bertrand of Dallas, Texas, and Katie Edgell of Dallas, Texas. He is preceded in death by his mother, Dora Marie Bertrand.
His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday, April 23, in Hixson Funeral Home of Vinton. The Rev. Jerrod Morgan will officiate. Burial will be in Big Woods Cemetery in Edgerly.
