Growing up as an only child, she was surrounded by a family of the closest cousins and friends that developed to lifelong friendships with the people she met at Nabua high school and later at the Colegio de Sta Isabel in Naga City (now the University of Saint Isabel). After meeting her future husband Rogelio at functions at Nabua High School, the two married and Antonia followed him as a Navy wife for life, which included being part of the Navy wives’ group with the USS Texas. The family grew with four children that took them from Hawaii to California, and finally Virginia Beach where Rogelio retired, and the family remained. Antonia and Rogelio joined and became lifetime members of the Bicol Association of Tidewater (now BIVA) and participated in various events and festivals. As a mother and wife, Antonia held part-time jobs as an Avon and Tupperware representative, Navy Exchange Clerk, Geriatric Aide at Westminster- Canterbury, and retired at M&G Electronics after over 20 years of employment. Retirement kept Antonia and Rogelio busy with times spent traveling on their own and with the family. The most special trips included her dream to visit Elvis Presley’s Graceland in Memphis, Tennessee and the holy land in Jerusalem and the pyramids of Egypt. She walked the steps where history was made and in between trips traveled to Thailand where she encountered elephants and always made visits back to the Philippines.
