Brenda Kay Hayes

Mrs. Hayes was born in Kings Mountain, NC and has resided in Virginia Beach since 1982. She retired from the City of Virginia Beach’s Commissioner Of Revenues Office as a tax assessor. She attended Riverside Baptist Church.

Mrs. Hayes was preceded in death by her parents, William Augusta Barber and Virginia Dare Conner Barber.

Survivors include her loving husband, William C. Hayes, Jr., two daughters, Virginia D. Hayes, Pamela E. Hayes, a son, William C. Hayes, III, and his wife, Nikole; seven grandchildren, Brittany Hayes, Brianna White, Mason, Gregory, William, Makayla and Maddison Hayes; a sister, Elizabeth Barber Naramore of Zebulon, GA; a sister-in-law, Nancy Hayes Wilkerson and husband, Roger W. Wilkerson III.

The family will receive friends on Monday, May 9, 2011, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel where a celebration of Mrs. Hayes Life will be held on Tuesday, May 10, at 10:00 a.m. by Pastor Frank Leonard. Interment will follow at Princess Anne Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Alzheimers Association in her honor.
