

Delno Massengill, 79, passed away on March 8, 2015. He and his brother Gerald joined the U. S. Army on January 6, 1956. They began basic training together in Fort Jackson, South Carolina. Delno was later stationed in Fort Eustis. In 1959, upon his separation from the Army, Delno met and married his wife, Gail. He worked a few different jobs before making a living at making cabinets until he later retired from Kempsville Counter Tops. His favorite hobby and pastime was fishing. He spent most of his retirement fishing with his grandson, Dustin.
He is survived by his son,Dale Massengill and his fiancée Gloria Marcum; his daughter, Debra Bowers; sister, Ethel Shiflett; brothers, Gerald and Paul Massengill; and his grandchildren, Dustin Massengill and Kristin Monty; great-grandchildren, Makenzie and Morgan Monty; Gloria’s children, Bryce and Callie Marcum; and his nieces and nephews, Linda Beasley, Victor Jenkins, Patecia Fearec, Diane Shiflett, Garry Hilton, Gerald Massengill, James Massengill, Elaine Gamez, and Teresa Massengill. He is predeceased by his parents, Burley and Eula Massengill; a brother, Tommy Massengill; two sisters, Mary Jenkins and Margie Hilton; and a nephew, Larry Massengill.
A memorial service will be held at 5:00 pm on Friday, March 13, 2015 at Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel with a reception to follow.
