

She was born in Fitzgerald, GA on October 2, 1918 to the parents of the late Walker Toliver and Zemmie Cobb Toliver. She completed her 8th grade education then graduated from Valis Beauty College earning a certified Beauticians degree in 1935. She was married to Dennis Charles Jefferson then later to Veteran, Jimmie Roberts.
Elizabeth treasured her job working 27 years at Dobbs Ferry Medical Pavilion as an Autoclave Sterilization Technician. She was a special lady to others and loved to cook “down-home” cooking and entertain by hosting luncheons with a culinary flare in her high rise 23rd floor apartment overlooking the Hudson River in New York City. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, decorating, shopping, and playing the piano while singing hymns to the God she loved.
Elizabeth is survived by four grandchildren: Deborah A. Moss Goffigan, Sharon E. Moss, Ronald D. Moss and Ira E. Williams. Six great grandchildren: Javon T. Moss Goffigan, Davina E. Goffigan, Demaris A. P. Goffigan, Raquel Moss, Demetron J. Williams, and Melanee Williams. And, one great-great grandchild: Aurora Marie Moss. Elizabeth had a daughter, Ira-Metter Moss Williams, who passed away at the age of twenty-five and a sister, LulaMae, whom she briefly knew. Elizabeth enjoyed her life with many dear friends; cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and sons and daughter in-laws.
A service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 23, 2014 at Smith & Williams Funeral Home Kempsville Chapel 4889 Princess Anne Road, Virginia Beach, VA 23462.
