

Frank Ferchland graduated high school in New York City and in 1951 enlisted in the US Marine Corps and went through Basic Training at Paris Island SC. He was an aviation mechanic and worked on both propeller planes and the new jet fighters. He served on the USS. Sipan an old World War II escort aircraft carrier.
He left the US Marine Corps active duty in 1956. He then embarked on a 30 year career working for New York Telephone which split into AT&T which he retired from in 1988 after 30 years.
In 1963 he married Bernadette Mayer who became the mother of his only child Frank Ferchland III in 1967. Bernedette passed suddenly and unexpected in 1989. After his retirement he retired to Virginia Beach, Virginia. He was an avid golfer and bought his dream home on the 2nd hole of the Kempsville Greens Golf Course. He was a volunteer Golf Marshall at Kempsville Greens Course for many years. He was an active member of the Virginia Seniors touring golf club, his greatest achievement being a hole in one which many lifetime golfers rarely ever achieve.
After a sudden illness in January of 2026, he passed in Hospice care. He was predeceased by his Father Frank Ferchland, his Mother Gertrude Ferchland, his Wife Bernadette Ferchland and his Sister Barbara Harvey. He is survived by his Son Frank Ferchland III of Suffolk Virginia, his Wife Leslie Ferchland. He has two Grandchildren Ryan Ferchland and his Wife Melina Ferchland of Ohio and Sarah Ferchland also of Ohio.
Visitation will be held at Smith & Williams Funeral Home/Kempsville, 4889 Princess Anne Rd, Virginia Beach, Virginia 23462, on May 16, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
