Born in Rocky Mount, NC, he was predeceased by his parents, Wilma and Robert Denson. Jim and his wife, Dorothy Starling Denson, were married for 62 years until her passing in 2014.
Jim is survived by his children Sandi (Tom), Keith (Carol), Ken, & Kevin (Elaine) and five grandchildren. He is also survived by his companion, Geri Lopes. In 1978
Jim retired from the US Navy after thirty years of service. He started his second career as the proprietor of Denson Sound Systems. Most recently, he was a resident of the Atlantic Shores community.
At his request, services will be private at Woodlawn Memorial in Norfolk, VA
