Janet Gail Taylor

Janet Gail Taylor, a cherished and devoted family member, passed away peacefully on June 9, 2025, in Virginia Beach, VA, at the age of 81. Born on December 9, 1943, in Norfolk, VA, she was a long-time resident of Virginia Beach, where she spent her final years at Our Lady of Perpetual Help.

After graduating from Norview High School in 1962, Janet pursued her education at Kee's Business College, graduating in 1965. Her career led her to North Landing Elementary School, where she served as a Teacher's Aide until her retirement in 2002. Her dedication to education and nurturing young minds was evident throughout her professional life.

Janet had a deep love for reading and found joy in the company of children and animals, especially cats. She delighted in watching old Westerns like "Gunsmoke" and enjoyed dancing to rock 'n' roll music, with a particular fondness for Elvis Presley.

Preceded in death by her beloved parents, Kenneth Allen and Frances Elizabeth Taylor, Janet is survived by her brother, Kenneth Allen Taylor Jr. She leaves behind a loving family, including her nephew, Matthew Kenneth Taylor, his wife Jocelyn, and their family, as well as her niece, Erin Elizabeth Thorpe, her husband Dan, and their family.

A graveside service for Janet will be held Tuesday, June 17, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, 6309 E Virginia Beach Blvd, Norfolk, Virginia 23502.

Janet will be fondly remembered for her kindness, warmth, and the joy she brought to those who knew her. Her gentle spirit and love for life will be greatly missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
