Marie Moses Bryant, 93, passed away in Norfolk on Saturday, January 8, 2022. She was born in Salem, VA to the late Willie and Mattie Moses. She is also predeceased by her husband, Walter James “Pete” Bryant whom she married on October 13, 1949; her daughters, Virginia Lou Rhodes and Patricia Ann Nelson; son-in-law, Ralph C. Nelson and her sister, Margaret Moses Lineberry. Marie graduated from Andrew Lewis High School and then graduated from Lewis Gale Hospital School of Nursing in 1949. She worked with the Virginia Beach Public Schools as a nurse for over 32 years. She enjoyed playing Bunco, Bridge and a card game, Hand and Foot. Marie is cherished in memory by her daughters, Kathy B. Hallal (Jerry), Karen B. Duggan (Douglas); sister, Betty Moses Lane, Shirley Moses Waggoner; grandchildren, Melissa Sherman (Darryl), James Nelson, Bryan Hallal (Heather), Chris Hallal (Emily), Jonathan Duggan, Matthew Duggan, Eric Hallal, Timothy Duggan; great grandchildren, Ann Marie, Noah, Jax, Cole, Brody, Kenzie and Cora.
A visitation will be from 6-8pm, Thursday, January 13, 2022 at Smith and Williams Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10am, Friday, January 14, 2022 at Memorial United Methodist Church. Immediately following the services, interment will occur at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be provided to Memorial United Methodist Church, where she was a member of over 50 years. Church address is 804 Gammon Rd., Virginia Beach, VA 23464.
