Mary Ellen Smith

Chesapeake- Mary Ellen Smith, wife of Richard H. Smith Jr. for more than 47 years, passed away on December 6, 2009, after a long illness. Mary Ellen was a devoted wife to the love of her life Richard, standing by her husband with the strength for the both of them. She was an adoring mother and grandmother to their three children, and eight grandchildren.She is survived by her husband; her pop, Oscar Reynolds; children, Mark Smith, Kimberly Murray Brunelle, and Kelly Gualdoni; grandchildren, Halie Murray, Brooke Murray, Sydney Smith, Alex Smith, Mason Smith, Julian Gualdoni, Leighton Gualdoni, and Grace Murray. She is predeceased by her mother, Mary Ellen Reynolds; father, Herbert Watts; brothers, Herbert E. Watts and William Shephard.Mrs. Smith was a devoted homemaker who enjoyed raising her children and watching her grandchildren grow. She was always there to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Mrs. Smith was a tremendous crafts woman, highly artistic, creative, and utilized her amazing talent in everything she did.The family will receive friends from 7- 9 pm on Wednesday, December 9, 2009 at Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel. A service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 10, 2009 at the funeral home. Flowers are welcome, contributions may be sent to the Salvation Army.
