Ruth Wimberley Hammond

Ruth Wimberley Hammond, 108, of Norfolk, Virginia went to be with the Lord on Tuesday August 8, 2023.

Ruth was born October 24, 1914 in Morrisville, North Carolina, daughter of the late Claude J. Wimberley and Rada Lawrence Wimberley. She was preceded in death by all her siblings and her husband, Joseph Vernell Hammond. She was a Beloved Aunt and Friend.

Ruth will be missed by her many nieces and nephews, especially her nephew and his wife, Donald and Sandra Watkins, of Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina. She is survived by her step-son and his wife, Tommy and Betty Hammond of Chesapeake, Virginia.

A graveside service will be held August 24, 2023 at 11:00 at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Norfolk, Va., with Todd Haynes, Pastor of Suburban Christian Church, Virginia Beach, Va. Arrangements by Smith & Williams Funeral Home.
