Obituary of William Allen Edwards, Jr.
Our Lord called Bill home on June 6, 2021. Bill passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family. He is predeceased by his father, William Edwards Sr; step-father, Leonard Stellwag; and brother, Eric Edwards. He is survived by his wife, Kelly Carlan Edwards; his children, Erik Edwards and Erin Atkinson; son-in-law, Reuel Atkinson; grandchildren, Navah and Raeya Atkinson; mother, Patricia Shields; sisters, Gwendolyn Miller and Diane Sawyer; along with many nieces and nephews. Bill was born in West Point, New York on May 31, 1958. In 1973, Bill made Eagle Scout, the highest honor achieved within the Boy Scouts of America. He was a successful Certified Financial Planner and served his clients for over 25 years. He always made time to talk with you, listen, and offer advice. Bill’s strong faith in Christ and love for family and friends was felt by all that knew him. Bill’s life was impacted greatly after a pilgrimage to Israel with friends in 2000. Since that time, he lived to deepen his Judeo/Christian devotion. Bill loved nature, especially bird watching to the level that he could name most birds by sight and sound. He also loved plants and had an amazing “green thumb”. He enjoyed history and was particularly interested in the Civil War. The family would like to thank the many friends, clients, and health care staff for all of your prayers and support. Bill will be truly missed; however, he will live forever in our hearts. Remember - Today We Live and Search For Violins! A Celebration of Bill’s life will be held on Saturday, June 12, at 11:00 am at Beach Fellowship Church on 1817 General Booth Blvd, Virginia Beach, VA, 23454.
