Barbara Elizabeth Malone

Barbara was born in Amherst, New Hampshire on December 12, 1935 to William R. Holt and Mina Isabelle Elliott Holt. She attended Leominster Hospital School of Nursing, obtaining her degree as a Registered Nurse. Barbara met Martin R. Malone while he was in the military in Massachusetts. They were married on June 30, 1956 and returned to California. She worked at Kaweah Delta District Hospital in Visalia for twenty one years with twelve of those years as Director of Nursing, retiring in 1993. She later moved to Fresno after the passing of Martin in 2002. Barbara was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church of Kingsburg where she was involved in the Catholic Women’s Club. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting, oil and acrylic painting, and loved her animals. Barbara was an avid baseball fan and following retirement, she and Martin traveled the United States, attending many professional baseball games. Her favorite teams were Boston Red Socks, San Francisco Giants and the San Diego Padres. She was also a season ticket holder for the Fresno Grizzlies.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Martin in 2002; her son, Daniel in 1975 and her granddaughter, Stephanie in 1988.

She leaves to cherish her memory, five children, Martin Malone, IV and wife Patricia of Tulare, William (Bill) Malone and wife, Christina of Fresno, Jennifer McCool and husband, Wayne of Fresno, James Malone and wife, Tracy of Fresno; Joseph Malone and life partner, Alexis of London, England; 17 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Graveside memorial services will be held on Friday, October 25, 2013 at 1:30 p.m. at the Visalia District Cemetery, 1300 W. Goshen Ave, Visalia, CA.
