She would remain a resident of this little town her entire life. After graduating from Woodlake High School in 1950, Belva started working at a packing house, but quickly knew she wanted to do something special with her life. Belva decided to start classes at COS to become a Nurse. After graduating, she would officially be an OB Nurse and would remain in her position for over 20 years. She dedicated her career to caring for others. A role in which her compassion and skill brought 1,500 new lives into the world and comfort to families during their most precious moments.
During her life, she had 4 daughters; Judy, Jaye, Jynye and Monica. In 1967, she met and married Monte H. Hoover whom she remained married to until his death in January 2022. They were married for 54 years. In 2021, Belva’s health took a turn due to falling. Belva would remain hospitalized over the next 3 years, but was well taken care of and in good spirits. Getting visits from her youngest grand babies cheered her up the most. November 12, 2024, the doctors said she was ready to go, but once again she held on for one last visit with her family. Then on November 15, 2024 at 1:30am, Belva left her tired body and gained her wings. Belva was the Grandma everyone loved. The glue that tried to hold everyone together and to all that really knew her as “The Avon Queen”. Belva can now walk with the Lord, run to her daughters Jaye & Jynye, hug her father and mother, and speak to her husband. Belva’s unwavering faith in the Lord as a Baptist and her warm spirit touched the lives of all who crossed her path. Her strength, grace, and enduring love will be missed but never forgotten.
Belva Hoover was a wonderful mother to Judy, Jaye, Jynye and Monica and an amazing grandma, great grandma and great- great grandma to Amy Zucker, Danny, Lane, & Chase Montes, Leah Walker, Jennifer, Jimmy and Aaron Slover, Steven Woods, Wayde Sweeney and Roxanne Ballin.
She is preceded in death by her devoted husband, Monte H. Hoover; her beloved daughters, Jaye and Jynye; and her parents, Rancie and Ada Buckner. Their memories remain an integral part of her story and will forever be cherished by those who knew her.
