Catherine Nancy Johnston Ezell was born on April 11, 1939 to William and LuElla Johnston. She passed away on January 18. 2014, surrounded by her loved ones and in the hearts and minds of family members and friends.
Cathy, the youngest of 8 siblings, was born and raised in Tulare. She spent many happy years on the family farm and attended Enterprise and Tulare Union High School.
Cathy married Lee Ezell in 1955 for 45 years until he passed on September 28, 2000. They moved to Visalia in 1962 and remained in the same home for over 50 years, raising their three daughters. They spent much of their free time with the Ezell and Johnston families. While Cathy worked over the years, she always put family first and was a loving mother to her children and a devoted caretaker for her mother and mother-in-law in their final years.
She is survived and will be deeply missed by her three loving daughters - Cindy DiJulio, Carol Mundell and Kim Delaney, caring son in laws, Joe DiJulio and Tom Mundell and adoring grandchildren, Brad and Lauren Mundell and Mariah and Kelly Delaney.
She was preceded in death by her parents, LuElla and William Johnston, and husband Lee Ezell. She is also preceded by her siblings Richard Johnston, Barbara Richards, Geraldine Murray, Bruce Johnston and Ella Garrison. David Johnston and Dorothy Truhitte are her surviving siblings.
Cathy is also survived by numerous brother and sister in-laws, and nieces and nephews who loved and cared dearly for her, as well as close and long term friends. The family appreciates their last visits and calls to show their love. She will be sorely missed by the many lives she touched.
We would like to thank the Kaweah Delta staff – especially Jana, Nancy. Athena and Sally at Transitional Care - for their care over the past month. A very special thank you to Rachelle and James, the best neighbors and caretakers, Uncle Duane Ezell and cousins Jennie Garrison and Franky Lovero, who were always there with support and care.
To the Methodist Church, thank you so much for faithfully coming by to visit with prayers helping to ease Cathy into God’s loving hands. It meant so much to her and the family.
Family and friends are invited to join with the family at a memorial service on Saturday, February 1, 2014 at 11 a.m. at the Visalia United Methodist Church, located on the corner of Caldwell and Akers in Visalia.
