Edward Anton Weber, the son of John Henry Weber and Anna Glovka-Weber was born on September 24, 1920 in Mankato, Minnesota and on December 10, 2015 he died peacefully in his sleep at the age of 95 at his home in Visalia, CA.
During World War II Edward was a Corporal in the United Stated Army Air Force, he serve as a radio operator, mechanic and flew in a B015 bomber named “Grandpa” with the 160th AAF base unit. He was honorably discharged when the war ended in September 1945.
Soon after the war ended Eddie started working as a projectionist for the Mc Cloud Theater in northern California. He was about to begin his lifelong career in theater management. In December 1945 he married Sylvia Annetta Snook. In 1947 he was promoted and transferred to Santa Clara, Ca to manage the Santa Clara Theater and in 1952 he moved his family to Visalia, Ca where he would manage the Sequoia Auto Theater for more than 25 years and then manage the Mooney Auto Theater. After the two drive-in theaters closed, he leased one of the properties and ran his own drive-in movie theater in Visalia for several years before retiring in 1982.
Edward Weber was preceded in death by his grandson, Nicholas Christopher Weber. He is survived by his wife Sylvia of 70 years, and his eight children, James Edward Weber and wife Andrea of Los Angeles, Richard Anton Weber and wife Mona of Porterville, Donald Franklin Weber and wife Bonnie of Visalia, Marlene Marie Williams and husband Ralph Roy of Visalia, William David Weber and wife Barbara of Visalia, Thomas Michael Weber and wife Nyna of Visalia, Loreen Ann Yalacki and husband Eddie of CO, Robert Patrick Weber and wife Phylis of Lindsay, he is also survived by his seventeen grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren.
Eddie had a wonderful sense of humor and we all looked forward to family gatherings when he would entertain us with his latest jokes and funny stories. He loved to pay card games with his family and friends, he enjoyed planning family trips to the lake and the river for a day of fishing, picnicking and fun. He was a member of the Visalia Elks Lodge and the Knights of Columbus for many years.
A viewing is scheduled for Thursday, December 17, 4pm-6pm, followed by Rosary at 6pm at Miller Memorial Chapel of Visalia. Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, December 18th, at 10am at St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Visalia, followed by graveside services at the Visalia Dist. Cemetery.
