He is preceded in death by his daughter, Natalie Erin, his parents, James and Dorothy Birdsong, and his sister Claudia Ramsey.
He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Brenda, his son Jason and wife Amanda, and their children, Brady and Bree Birdsong.
He was a giving and caring man with so many close relationships with lots of special friends.
He came to Tulare after graduation from Fresno State as Director of Parks and Recreation. He was also acting City Manager twice.
He joined Shannon Bros Co. as an employee in 1975, and soon bought in as a partner. He expanded the company to coastal grape hauling. He was also a partner in TCCBI, a composting company and several other businesses. He recently became very involved with Visalia Senior Housing through St. Paul’s Anglican Church.
He loved spending time with his grandchildren at the beach, golfing and the Dodgers.
Celebration of Life services will be held on Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at 11 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 215 N. Locust Street in Visalia, CA.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your favorite charity in his name or Valley Children’s Hospital.
