

George Washington Welzbacher was the eldest son born to Willie and Rebecca Welzbacher on June 14, 1928 in Story, Arkansas. He passed away peacefully in his sleep in the early morning hours of January 3, 2018, just six months shy of his 90th birthday.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 36 years, Wandza; his daughter, Linda (Larry): stepdaughter Monica (Anthony); stepsons Terry (De Wanda) & Jeff (Cara) and his sister Syble Browing. He leaves nine grandchildren and ten great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and many friends.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, Ann McCustion of Exeter, Ella Mae Garner and, Jackie Coleman both of San Diego and two brothers, James Welzbacher and Darrell Welzbacher, both of Visalia.
George attended Wilson Elementary and Exeter High School, Class of 1947. He was taught good work ethics at an early age and appreciated the benefits of hard work. As a young man he worked for Purity Stores and soon owned his own grocery store in Farmersville. After 17 years, he decided to start a construction company, later known as Eldorado Homes. This business continued for 30 years.
In his “retirement”, he spent many happy days riding his golf cart up and down the rows of his beloved orange grove.
George had a strong faith in God and was very active in his church and community. He was Sunday School Superintendent and Sunday School Teacher for the young married class. He was a member of the Deacon Board at Goshen Church of God.
George enjoyed his years of community service. He was a Farmersville School Board member for nine years, two of which he served as president. He also served on the Exeter Union High School Board as Clerk.
Visitation will be 3 – 7 p.m. on Thursday, January 11, 2018 at Miller Memorial Chapel, 1120 W. Goshen Avenue in Visalia. Services will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, January 12, 2018 at Grove Avenue Church of God, 1020 W. Grove Avenue in Visalia. Burial be at Visalia District Cemetery
