Jim was born July 25th 1936, to Edgar (E. E.) and Sarah Haury in their home north of Ivanhoe. He passed away August 6th 2022 at his home in Visalia.
Jim graduated from Visalia High School in 1954 where he played multiple sports and was a standout baseball catcher, earning many recognitions.
On August 10, 1956 he married Patricia Taylor, the love of his life, in Ivanhoe First Presbyterian Church.
Jim and Patty were members of first Presbyterian church of Ivanhoe and First Baptist church of Visalia.
Jim enjoyed farming, fishing, and flying. He started farming out of high school and continued until his death. He became a labor contractor and truck driver in the 70s, 80s, 90s to help support his farming habit.
Jim learned to fly at a young age and obtained a private pilot’s license. He received a multi engine and instrument rating, which allowed him to pursue his passion for flying. He owned and flew a small twin engine airplane in the 70s and 80s.
He enjoyed fishing when he could; from the high mountain streams in the Sierras to the ocean off of Kodiak, Alaska.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents Edgar and Sarah Haury, his brothers Edgar and Bob Haury, and his sister Jean Weatherhead.
Jim is survived by Patty, his wife of 65 years, brother Daryl (Sandra) Haury; daughter Karen (Cliff) Osborn; son Greg (Angela) Haury; and four grandsons Ryan (Crystal) Dowling, Aaron Dowling, Blake Haury, and Scot Haury.
