

June Marilyn Williams, 90, of Visalia, California passed away on Friday, October 25, 2013. She was born to the late Floyd and Lillian Slater on December 3, 1922. June graduated from La Sierra for her pre-nursing courses and then attended the Paradise Valley’s nursing program to earn her degree as a Registered Nurse. She also attended Pacific Union College where she received her teaching credential. She married Alton Williams in 1947 and they lived together in several locations before settling in Visalia, California in 1962. June worked as a teacher for 3 years, in a private school, teaching 1-4th grades. She later volunteered her time to teach adult reading courses. She held a long career in nursing where she served as a Director of Nursing. She retired after nearly 40 years as a Registered Nurse. June was an active member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Visalia. She served in many roles over the years, such as Deaconess, and Children’s Teacher. She loved to travel, teach and help others by sharing her wisdom in nursing. She was able to take several vacations with her family in her lifetime. Some of her favorites were trips to New York and Hawaii.
June was preceded in death by her husband, Alton Williams in 2011 and her daughter, Eulynn Davis in 1999. She is survived by her son, Timothy Williams of Visalia and her daughter Sharon Martin of Joseph, OR; eight grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at the Visalia Seventh Day Adventist Church, 1310 S. Woodland Street in Visalia on Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at 10 a.m. at the Seventh Day Adventist Church, 1310 S. Woodland Street in Visalia, California. Private Graveside services for the family will be held at the Visalia District Cemetery, 1300 W. Goshen Avenue in Visalia on Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at 11:30 a.m.
