

Roberta is predeceased by siblings William Stevenson, Edna St. Clair, Alma Westphal, Gertrude Archer Woods, and husbands Harlan (Scotty) Woodruff and Edward (Barney) Arnold Bernhard and daughter Vandy Lee Lehman.
She is survived by siblings Betty Simon, Visalia; Robert Stevenson, Visalia; and Joyce Wells Raubinger, Fresno; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Roberta graduated from Visalia Union High School in 1938 and attended the College of the Sequoias. After World War II began, Roberta moved north to work for the telephone company at Camp Beale, in Yuba County. It was there that she met her first husband Harlan (Scotty) Woodruff. They married Nov. 8, 1943. Their daughter Vandy Lee was born in 1945. Roberta lived in several different places throughout her life, including 13 yrs in Denver, CO. Roberta and Scotty moved back to Los Angeles in the early 1980’s, where Scotty passed away in 1984.
Roberta retired from the accounting firm Ernst and Whinney in 1982. In 1988 Roberta attended her 50th High School reunion in Visalia, where she re-connected with classmate Barney Bernhard. They married in 1989 and Roberta moved back to Visalia, where she has since resided. Barney passed away in 2001. In 2008, Roberta’s beloved daughter Vandy also passed away after a long illness. Roberta continued to live in her own home, drive her car and take care of her three dogs. On October 10, 2010 she celebrated her 90th birthday with a party in Visalia, surrounded by her friends and family.
Roberta had a zest for life, a great sense of humor and a determination to never give up. She will be missed by all those she left behind.
Visitation will be held Thursday, July 7 2011 from 4-7 pm at Miller memorial Chapel in Visalia. And a graveside service will be held Friday July 8 2011 at the Visalia cemetery
