

Verna was preceded in death by her husband William Lander, two sons Steven and William and 7 brothers and sisters.
Verna is survived by daughters Christine, Donna, Janet, son James, 7 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
For the past 26 years, she has resided in Visalia where she was active at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Verna was a 25 year member of the Altar and Rosary Society, Catholic Daughters of America and participated in Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration.
Verna grew up in Texas and Los Angeles, CA. During WWII, Verna was a “Rosie the Riveter” an instrumental part in the war effort leading to America’s victory. At age of 91, she visited Evergreen Aviation Museum where she was honored by the staff. She was able to provide historical details on aircraft production. When describing Verna her friends used words like sweet, sweetheart, lovely, always smiling and happy. Verna will be dearly missed.
Rosary will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Visalia on Saturday, Jan. 21, 2017 at 12:30pm, followed by Funeral Mass at 1:00 p.m.
