Born Donna Mae Frances Stalnaker on August 7, 1951, she was raised in the College Place area of Eau Claire and attended Eau Claire High School and Columbia High School. She had a love for learning and took many courses at various technical colleges around the state.
Donna loved to read, particularly historical fiction, was an excellent baker, enjoyed playing the guitar, and once taught belly dancing at her studio in Columbia. She also had a deep love for dogs, spending much of her time caring for rescues.
Donna lived in several cities throughout South Carolina, including Myrtle Beach and the upstate, before settling in the Gilbert area for much of her later life. In 2022, she moved back to Columbia to take care of her ailing mother, staying with her day and night until her mother's passing in October of that year.
She is survived by her two much-loved sons, James “Jim” Lee Boone and Gary Mitchell Boone, as well as her siblings, Tommy Stalnaker (Betty), Sheryl Ballard (Ronnie), and Carolyn Monts (Mackey). She is preceded in death by her mother, Alma Virginia Bundrick Stalnaker and her father, Thomas Jesse Stalnaker.
The family will hold a private service at the Southland Memorial Gardens Chapel on Friday, March 17, 2023 at 11:00 am, officiated by the Reverend James McGee.
