WEST COLUMBIA - A graveside service for Edward O. Patterson, 90, will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, March 30, 2017 at Fort Jackson National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Laurel Baptist Church, 2250 Pine St., West Columbia, SC 29170.
Mr. Patterson was born in Johnston, SC, August 26, 1926. He was the son of the late Van L. Patterson and Evelyn Claxton Patterson. He retired from Rockwell International and also retired from the Army as Sgt. 1st Class after 21 years of service. He served in WWII and in Korean War, and was a lifetime member of the Masons.
He is survived by his very special friend, Christina Kneece, and his children, Van, Steve and David Patterson; daughter, Lisa Reed; sisters, Frances Holston and Erie Dodd; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Special thanks go out to Marilyn Newman who provided care for our dad for the last few months. Also, our eternal gratitude goes out to Terry Reed who has provided love, care and friendship for dad for many years. Terry was a blessing to all the family and for Dad.
