
PELION-Everett Walter Moore, Jr. passed away at home on Wednesday, May 29, 2013. Everett was born in New York City on August 5, 1932 to Everett Walter Moore, Sr. and Betty Johnson Moore. After serving two years in the Army, he relocated to South Carolina and helped his father in their business, Moore’s Mobile Homes of West Columbia, which was one of the first mobile home dealerships in the Columbia area. Everett retired from mobile home moving and service in 1997.
Everett, proudly know as “Papa” by all his grandchildren, is survived by his wife, Mildred Higgs Moore; son, James Walter Moore, Sr.; daughter, Betty Lyn Moore (Ladd Thomas) Roof; grandsons, James Walter Moore, Jr, William Everett “Billy” Moore, Eric Earl Wohnig, Justin Walter Wohnig, Travis Daniel Roof and Dylan Ladd Roof; granddaughters, Christy Brown Hopkins, Sandy Lee Holloway and Lauren Elizabeth Roof; three great-grandsons, four great-granddaughters and three great-great granddaughters.
He was predeceased by his parents; son, Billy Earl Casey; sister, Karen Sutton; brother, Carl Bryn and his great-great grandson, Maximus Abbs.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, May 31, 2013 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, West Columbia Chapel, located at 800 West Dunbar Road, West Columbia, SC. Funeral service will be graveside at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 1, 2013 at Southland Memorial Gardens located at 700 West Dunbar Road, West Columbia, SC. Pallbearers will be Michael Butler, Rodney Smith, Randy Wohnig, Jr., Donald Swink, Sr., James Moore, Jr. and Anthony Miele.
