COLUMBIA – George Mendle Wessinger, Jr., 71, was born September 4, 1948 in Columbia, SC and passed away on Friday, September 27, 2019. He was the son of the late George M. Wessinger, Sr. Mr. Wessinger was an avid Clemson Tigers fan and loved to play cards. He was very active in Dixie Youth Baseball.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Wessinger; five stepdaughters, Linda Eller, Sue Hagans, Bobbie Waller, Donna Franke and Marina Reynolds; 11 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his daughter, Wendy Wessinger.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 29, 2019, at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, West Columbia Chapel. A private funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the National Parkinson’s Foundation, Inc., 1501 Northwest 9th Avenue, Miami, FL 33136 in honor of Mr. Wessinger’s wife, Mary M. Wessinger.
