WEST COLUMBIA- Harold Allen Parrish aged 65 of West Columbia made the journey to his heavenly home on March 3rd, 2018. Allen was born on March 7th, 1952 in Batesburg to the late Walter Harold and Althea Lybrand Parrish. He was preceded in death by his beloved brother & fishing partner, Larry Parrish. Allen was a graduate of Batesburg High School, where he played football and attended Texas A&M University in his later years. Mr. Parrish was employed by the United States Department of Agriculture as an Inspector and enjoyed coaching his son in Dixie Youth Baseball. He was famous among family and friends for making his homemade muscadine wine, his talents on the grill, being an avid bass fisherman, and a loyal NASCAR and Gamecock fan. Allen Parrish will be missed by all who knew him as he was a true mentor and a jack of all trades, who could give lessons on anything from changing tires, building a deck, or making BBQ sauce. Allen is survived by his loving wife, Sharon Parrish of West Columbia; his daughter Candace Murphy (Tim), sons Bryan Parrish (Krista), Brad McCullar (Dodie), Brent McCullar (Adrianna), and his sister Cathy McGill. Allen loved his family and his greatest joys were spending time with his grandchildren- Lauryn (Paul) Shuler, Abby Murphy, Tyler & Annie Parrish, Sara Reale, Haley McCullar, and his two great-grandsons Myles & Raiden Shuler. Visitation for Mr. Parrish is scheduled for March 6th at the Caughman-Harman Chapel at Southland Memorial Gardens in West Columbia from 6-8pm. His funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 7th at 2pm at the Chapel with internment following at Southland. Pallbearers are Todd Cooper, Todd Frick, Chris Hall, Darrell Long, Travis Parrish, Wally Price, Mike Smith, and Brian Yarborough. In honor of Allen’s birthday, his family will be dressed in garnet and black and they encourage guests to join them in wearing his favorite colors. The family would also like to thank the doctors and staff at Palmetto Health Richland Heart Hospital and asks that any donations in his honor be made to the American Heart Association.
