Surviving are his wife, Theresa; sister-in-law, Avis Reinhardt; children, Ronald A. Bartley (Sandy), Pamela B. Causby, Julie Cubine (Steve) and Denise Baker (Michael); grandchildren, Kaitlyn Bartley, Joshua Meetze (Amy), Dylan Baker, Jacob and Trent Cubine and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Gwendolyn Riddlehoover.
He attended Greenwood High School. After high school, he enlisted with the United States Army where he received his basic training at Fort Jackson, SC and served his country during the Korean War. He retired from the City of Columbia Fire Department as a Battalion Chief. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church, Cayce, SC, and former member of First Baptist Church of West Columbia where he served as a Deacon. He was a member of American Legion Post 79, Cayce Masonic Lodge 384, VFW Post 8738, The 40 & 8 Veterans Organization, Jamil Shrine Temple, Omar Shrine Temple and Motor Patrol Unit, Mt. Pleasant, SC, Cayce-West Columbia Lions Club, SC State Fire Commission appointed by the Governor, SC State Firefighters Association, SC State Fire Chief’s Association, Lexington County Fire Marshal, National Legislative Council, American Legion and Veteran Affairs, Washington DC, Board of Visitors, Winthrop College, Rock Hill, SC, Board of Zoning Appeals and Board of Adjustment and Appeals, Cayce, SC, Lexington County Republican Party.
Visitation will be held at Trinity Baptist Church on Friday, November 12, 2021 at 10:00 am with funeral services to begin at 11:00 am, followed by burial services at Celestial Memorial Gardens, 3111 Delree Street, West Columbia.
