

Karen started her career as a secretary at the Kelly Jones Law Firm, then she became an executive assistant to Robert McNair Jr. with Georgia Pacific. Karen’s career continued by working for the SC State Ethics Commission until her retirement in 2024. She loved her Ethics coworkers, and they loved her. She was a woman of integrity and very passionate about doing her work well.
Karen was a longtime member of Crossroads World Outreach Center where she was very involved throughout her life with the choir, women’s ministries, and children’s ministries. Her hobbies included anything with her grandkids, watching the Lady Gamecocks, and yard sale-ing with her brother and sister-in-law, Steve and Cathy Wiggins
She is survived by her son, Jason Wiggins and daughter, Marti Chavis (CE Chavis); 4 grandkids, Ellie, Dakota, Harrison and Leyla; and 3 sisters, Rhonda Bauer (Jonathan), June Ballentine (Tim) and Angie Troutman (Chuck); along with innumerable adopted kids over the years—she was truly a mom to all her walked in her door.
She was predeceased by her parents, Lois and JC Atkinson, and her husband, Allen Wiggins.
Visitation will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, February 8, 2025 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home – West Columbia Chapel, 820 West Dunbar Road, West Columbia, SC 29170. A graveside service will follow at 3:00 PM at Southland Memorial Gardens.
